what are angels


Assalam oalaikum,
Angels are one of the creations of Allah ta’ala. They have been created from Noor or light. In the Hadith, our Dear Prophet (s.a.w) has described them in three ways:
That they have been created from Noor/light.
That they have been created from Noor-e-izzat
That they have been created from the Divine Spirit of Allah ta’ala.
All these three descriptions have the same meaning, i.e. the angels are made up of light. The angels are free from all sins. They worship Allah and sing his praises. This fact has been mentioned in the Holy Quran, chapter#39 Surah zumar, verse#75.

And thou wilt see the angels surrounding the Throne (Divine) on all sides, singing Glory and Praise to their Lord. The Decision between them (at Judgment) will be in (perfect) justice, and the cry (on all sides) will be, "Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!"

Angels are chaste and truthful. This has been mentioned in An-Nahl, chapter#16, verse#102.

Say, the Holy Spirit has brought the revelation from thy Lord in Truth, in order to strengthen those who believe, and as a Guide and Glad Tidings to Muslims.

The angels recite the tasbee (rosary) of Allah ta’ala. This fact is mentioned in Surah Baqarah, chapter#2, verse # 30.

Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I will create a vicegerent on earth." They said: "Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know not."

The angels are heavenly creations and they live in the heaven. They are assigned with different tasks so they travel between the heaven and the earth. This has been confirmed in Al-Anam, chapter# 6, verse #111.

Even if We did send unto them angels, and the dead did speak unto them, and We gathered together all things before their very eyes, they are not the ones to believe, unless it is in Allah.s plan. But most of them ignore (the truth).
